NOVEL PREPARATIONS AGAINST PERIODONTAL DISEASEs

Luteolin is a natural flavonoid (specifically a tetrahydroxyflavone) found in many plants. It is a  potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound and may be benficial in periodontitis by modulating signaling pathways, such as NF-κB. 

Apigenin (4′,5,7-trihydroxyflavone) is an  anti-inflammatory agent and plays a major role in neuroprotection, and wound healing. 

Zoledronate (zoledronic acid) gel along with bone grafts can be used in surgical therapy for treating intrabony defects.  As a third-generation nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate, it exhibits the highest antiresorptive potency among available bisphosphonates, making it particularly effective for modulating alveolar bone density.  

Combining Magnesium Oxide (MgO) with Collagen creates a scaffold  with higher compressive strength and  creates a material that is closer to the mechanical properties of trabecular bone, reducing the risk of the scaffold collapsing before new tissue forms. 

 Doxycycline is considered a "gold standard" adjunctive therapy in periodontics because it offers a unique double benefit that most other antibiotics do not: it fights the bacteria and stops the tissue destruction caused by the body's own immune response. 

Moringa extracts, derived from the leaves, seeds, and roots of the Moringa oleifera tree, offer a wide range of health benefits thanks to their rich nutritional and medicinal properties. 

Upon laser irradiation (~803 nm), ICG generates reactive oxygen species, aiding in a potent anti-microbial/anti-oxidant effect. Chitosan enhances ICG’s stability and delivery.
