Single application Phthalocyanine based PDT dye for the treatment of chronic periodontitis.

  

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a minimally invasive therapeutic technique to decontaminate a pocket and to stimulate periodontal repair and regeneration. Phthalocyanines show a very high photodynamic efficacy towards most of the periodontopathic organisms.

 Phthalocyanine based PDT dye. Phthalocyanine (Pc) is a photosensitizer

with high quantum yield which increases its efficiency to generate singlet oxygen with high binding affinity to microbes and shows promising antimicrobial photodynamic therapeutic properties.

  

Dye applied after scaling and root planing; visible as bluish gel around the gingival margins.
